Poem By: Siegfried Sassoon
This is also an anti war poem. It also describes the moments of delight in the horror of war. The setting is not clear. Everyone represents the soldiers. The happiness felt by the soldiers is compared with the happiness felt by the bird which is recently freed from the cage. Out of happiness in the freedom the bird jumps up in the garden and is out of sight at the ends. Like the bird the soldiers also feel being up fluid. The soldiers have the wish that the song will never come to end. The major cause of happiness is the song and as long as there is a song, there is happiness.
