The action takes place in the house of Hal. Truscott has come to the house of Hal in order to investigate about the crime. Truscott says he is from the water-board a spy agency. Recently a bank has been looted. Hal works in the bank and it is suspected that Hal has kept the looted money.
Truscott asked Hal about the looted money. Hal replies that the money is being buried by father. Truscott becomes angry because of the stupid answer. Truscott threatens Hal to tell the truth. For second time the question is the same. Hal sees the watch and replies that the money is half way to the Church. Truscott threatens to arrest to Hal if he does not tell the truth. A spy does not have the authority to arrest. Truscott is not from the water - board. He is the police inspector. He has kept his identy secret so that Hal will tell the truth. For the third time he question is same. All the time Hal is telling truth. Truscott is not able to know the truth because he is not the spy. Hal's mother has recently died in the next room. The ritual is going on Hal has kept the money in the coffin and the coffin is being carried to the Church.
