My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose: Roberts Burns

My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose
Poem By: Roberts Burns

The poem is about Love. The Lover-speaker is addressing his beloved. The speaker compares his Love with the RED ROSE. He compares his Love with the other number of beautiful things. He compares his Love with sweet melody.

The speaker says that, He will continue Loving his beloved until and unless the sea becomes dry, He says that, he will continue Loving her until and unless the rock melts under the heat of the sun. He again says that, he will Love her until and unless the Earth runs out of the sand. The beloved is so beautiful the he has fallen deep in Love with her. The last stanza is the scene of separation. The speaker bids farewell to the beloved and says that he will visit her again although miles away from her.

The speaker compares his Love with impossible events. The sea never becomes dry, the rock never melts and the Earth never runs out of the sand The speaker is trying to say that his Love will never die. He is making his Love immortal. The Poem deals with ideal and spiritual Love. Even in separation and the beloved are not sad.
