On the Vanity of Earthly Gratness : Arthur Guiterman

On the Vanity of Earthly Gratness
Poem By: Arthur Guiterman

The poem 'On the vanity of Earthly Greatness' is ironical poem. Where the poet has drawn so many examles to show the remporariness of living beings inculding man in the face of time in the earth.

The tusks of mastodons fought powerful fight in the past but now they have become the playthings. The sword of Cgarlemagne the just is spoilt by rust. The gizzly bear is dead. One one fears of it. Its skin and fur is used in making rugs and people now sit comfortably on it. The bust of great Julius caeaar who won most of the world is kept on the shelf. But the poet does not care all because every achievement is temporary. Time is the most valuable wealth everybody because great in his time.
